Fun story:
The 2019 Vanderbilt concerto competition took place on the twentieth and twenty-first of January, 2019. The week prior was the tech week for, and three performances of, VOB's mainstage production of Pippin. John served as the projection designer/executor for the show, and he had to juggle the competition knockout round (Jan. 20), with running/striking the final performance of Pippin. The following day, he won the final round of the competition, giving him the opportunity to perform the concerto with the Vanderbilt orchestra later that semester. The day after that, John started tech week for Lovensheimer's 2019 Caberet, where he served as production manager and projection designer. The week after that, he was in Detroit (in the middle of a polar vortex) as a fellow at the annual Sphinx Conference.
To this day, he's still not quite sure how he managed those three weeks.
